We can help you learn the skills to weather all of life’s seasons — even the stormy ones.

Life seems to throw curveballs when you least expect it. And pain, hurt, grief, betrayal, and fear never show up when it’s convenient, do they? At Mintleaf, we help clients learn the skills and practical tools to:

  • unhook from worry, worst case scenarios, and “what-if?” thoughts and integrate more balanced thinking;

  • reduce anxiety, rumination, and panic episodes and move through all aspects of your day with more ease;

  • decrease body tension and heal your nervous system from chronic stress and burnout;

  • manage low and unpredictable moods, process painful emotional injuries, and renew motivation to feel a greater sense of hope in your daily life;

  • improve all types of relationships by addressing stuck conflict patterns, setting boundaries, and learning healthier ways to communicate and connect;

  • work through a complex or traumatic developmental history and discover new ways of understanding your family system;

  • unsubscribe from self-criticism, comparison, and unrealistic standards, and develop self-compassion, cognitive flexibility, and realistic expectations of yourself and others;

  • explore your sexuality and sexual identity with curiosity rather judgment and find joy, pleasure, and connection;

  • adapt to living with the effects of chronic health conditions (such as autoimmune diseases, endometriosis, PCOS, etc.) and make peace with your body;

  • address the roots of distraction, procrastination, and avoidance and build trust in yourself to follow through;

  • create sustainable routines, get organized, and make intentional, not impulsive, decisions;

  • learn to live with uncertainty, reduce compulsive behaviours, and change the meaning of intrusive thoughts;

  • process trauma and distressing experiences so that you can feel at home in your body again; and

  • adjust to major life changes, such as divorce/separation, retirement, job loss, and prenatal/postpartum, gender transitions, and meet yourself where you’re at today with kindness.

It’s not about the label; it’s about the person.

It is important to know that you don’t need a diagnosis to benefit from or be deserving of therapy. Some people might be experiencing a set of symptoms that would lend itself to a diagnosis, and others might not. Either way, your distress is worth acknowledging and working through.

We work collaboratively to specifically support you.

In order to provide the best treatment possible, we are happy to coordinate with other healthcare professionals who are involved in your care; any fees associated with this will be discussed ahead of time.

Additionally, in some cases we will refer clients to other services if we believe that what they’re experiencing falls outside of our respective scopes of practice, or if we believe that we’re not able to meet the client’s treatment needs effectively. This may be apparent at the outset during the intake and assessment process, or it may be the case that a change in services is needed at some point during our work together.

For example, clients navigating certain eating disorders, active substance dependence, severe suicidality, and/or other high-risk behaviours may make more progress working with better-suited clinicians who have more specialized training in these areas and who are logistically set up to provide proper treatment.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us if you are unsure whether or not we would be a good fit for you.
