Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Being human can be hard! Despite this, I hold on to the belief that all of our feelings, even those that are painful and uncomfortable, are an essential and valid part of being human.

However, these painful emotions and experiences can sometimes take over, hijacking our thoughts, behaviours, attention, and emotions. As your therapist, I aim to help you learn the tools to manage these uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, cultivate self-compassion, and develop the confidence and skills to make living life a smoother and more enjoyable adventure.

I am a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) in Ontario. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Psychology from Memorial University, and my master's in counselling psychology from Yorkville University. Growing up in a small, rural community in northern Newfoundland, I experienced firsthand the impacts of inaccessible mental health services and how disheartening it can be when those services are out of reach. This realization was the initial spark in my journey toward becoming a psychotherapist and an advocate for holistic wellness.

Through my experience in non-profit and healthcare settings, I have had the opportunity to work with people, both individually and in groups, experiencing a broad range of issues, including depression and low mood, anxiety and worry, severe illness and chronic pain, self-esteem and self-worth, intense fear, stress and burnout, end-of-life considerations, as well as grief, loss, and bereavement. At this time, I am accepting new adult (18+) clients for virtual psychotherapy in English.

My Therapy Approach

I view therapy as a collaborative journey, and my goal is to provide the empathy and tools you deserve to navigate life’s challenges and discover your inner strength.

My approach to therapy is rooted in the person-centred philosophy, which means that I focus on developing strong and meaningful therapeutic connections and your well-being is at the heart of our therapeutic partnership. I aim to offer a holistic and supportive path toward healing and growth, and I invite all my clients to take an active role during our sessions. I integrate elements from several therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based interventions. Fundamentally, I emphasize compassion and connection as the cornerstones of our work together and I aim to create a nurturing environment where you can explore, express, and grow.

I have experience working with adult clients at various stages of life who are experiencing a broad range of difficulties, including sadness and depression, anxiety and worry, severe illness and chronic pain, self-esteem and self-worth, intense fear, stress and burnout, end-of-life considerations, as well as grief, loss, and bereavement. I'm delighted to invite all of my clients into a space where their unique experiences, emotions, and thoughts are genuinely valued.
