Our Clinic’s Values
We work with adults, both couples and individuals, experiencing a broad range of difficulties. For some, these may be due to acute, short-term life changes, and for others, there might be chronic, even lifelong, emotional suffering. In every case, we collaborate with clients to identify the roots of their issues, manage distressing symptoms, and ultimately overcome the obstacles to change. We consider it an absolute privilege to support and witness our clients’ journeys through self-discovery and transformation.
We enjoy working with (and learning from) clients from all walks of life. We endeavor to be active allies to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community as well as relentless advocates for racial justice, sex positivity, and body equity. No matter what, you are welcome, valued, and appreciated here at our practice.
What is Measurement-Based Care?
Within the first few sessions, you and your therapist will collaboratively decide on the goals for therapy. Over the course of therapy, it’s important for both of you to have a sense of 1) is what we’re doing therapeutically allowing you to make progress towards these goals?; and 2) how strong is our therapy relationship as we are working towards these goals?
Even when both the therapist and the client are transparent, honest, and engaged in the therapy process, the answers to these questions can be difficult to gauge through conversation alone. Lots of research has shown that using quantitative measures to periodically assess progress and therapeutic alliance makes a big difference, and that it reliably and sustainably improves therapy outcomes (you can read more about that here, here, here).
At our clinic, therapists may use Greenspace, which is a Canadian measurement-based care digital platform. Like all the platforms that Mintleaf Psychology Clinic uses, Greenspace is completely secure, and is committed to maintaining privacy and security that exceeds PIPEDA, PHIPA, HIPAA and all regional standards, as well as being SOC II Type II certified.
How it works is pretty simple; your therapist will select the measures relevant to your therapy work together, and will ask you to complete them every so often from the comfort of your home. You and your therapist can review the results together, and decide if making any adjustments to your treatment plan is warranted.
Of course, your therapist will talk with you about using Greenspace; in the interim, you can read more about how it works here.
