Individual Therapy
We work with adults (18+) to improve the quality of their lives. It is important to know that you don’t need a diagnosis to benefit from or be deserving of therapy. Some people might be experiencing a set of symptoms that would lend itself to a diagnosis, and others might not. Either way, your distress is worth acknowledging and working through. In our work with clients, some common themes are:
anxiety & worry
low mood, up-and-down emotions & depression
stress & burnout
relationship difficulties with romantic partners, family, friends, and/or colleagues (e.g., persistent conflict, co-dependency, lack of boundaries, etc.)
perfectionism & rigid expectations of self or others
self-esteem, shame, & self-worth
sexuality, gender, & identity
body image & dysmorphia
chronic illness & chronic pain (e.g., autoimmune diseases, endometriosis, PCOS, etc.)
panic attacks & phobias
focus, attention, disorganization, & procrastination
obsessive-compulsive tendencies
grief, loss, and life transitions (e.g. divorce, retirement, new career, prenatal or postpartum, etc.)
childhood trauma/complex trauma & attachment trauma
In order to provide the best treatment possible, we are happy to coordinate with other healthcare professionals who are involved in your care; any fees associated with this will be discussed ahead of time.
Please note that we do not offer the following services at this time:
WSIB assessments/treatment
MVA assessments/treatment (submitting claims through HCAI)
child/adolescent psychotherapy
Additionally, in some cases we will refer clients to other services if we believe that what they’re experiencing falls outside of our respective scopes of practice, or if we believe that we’re not able to meet the client’s treatment needs effectively. This may be apparent at the outset during the intake and assessment process, or it may be the case that a change in services is needed at some point during our work together.
For example, clients navigating certain eating disorders, active substance dependence, severe suicidality, and/or other high-risk behaviours may make more progress working with better-suited clinicians who have more specialized training in these areas and who are logistically set up to provide proper treatment.
Please don’t hesitate to ask us if you are unsure whether or not we would be a good fit for you. Other therapy options can be found using the Psychology Today directory, the Ontario Psychological Association directory and/or the Ottawa Academy of Psychology's directory.
