Claire’s Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic style is engaging and flexible, rooted in personal warmth and authenticity.

In the past three years, I have extensively studied current empirically validated therapeutic modalities, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I use these modalities, as well as mindfulness-based interventions, in my work with adult clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and burnout, grief and loss, life transition, low mindfulness, self-worth issues, and assertiveness and relationship difficulties. My own healing journey with anxiety, trauma, critical self-thought, as well as resulting insights, also inform my therapeutic approach. (If you are interested, you can see my CV here). I am always pursuing new learning opportunities and exploring the latest research in psychotherapy and psychology.

Having studied with Jon Kabat-Zinn and his team at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, I am trained as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher. I am also a Mindful Self-Compassion Certified Teacher.

As a therapist, I favor a “rolling up our sleeves and working together” approach, applying a person-centered and attentive presence to you, your concerns and your goals. I also demonstrate great respect for your inner resources, diverse background and history, courage in “showing up,” and joy for the work you do to gain new perspectives, develop new skills, and take steady steps toward the life you want.
